Tokaj Drei FORTE 2023

Tokaj Drei FORTE 2023

Tokaj semi-sweet Kabar

At first, the wine appears somewhat reserved – the initial nose reflects its higher alcohol content (15.5%), which also inspired its name. With a few minutes of aeration, however, it opens up beautifully and reveals a very different side.
Aromas of orange peel, apricot jam, and roasted hazelnut unfold gradually, gaining depth and complexity over time. On the palate, ripe apricot returns in a compote-like form, accompanied by gentle sweet spices and subtle toasted notes.
There’s real drive here – an honest, well-balanced late harvest wine that stands proudly on its own. The finish lingers with a hint of cinnamon bitterness and discreet warmth.
Stylistically, the Forte sits somewhere between a French Vin Doux Naturel and an Australian Late Harvest Semillon, yet it remains distinct thanks to Tokaj’s hallmark acidity and mineral backbone. Aged in Zemplén oak barrels, it reached its high alcohol content naturally – without fortification. In spirit, it subtly evokes the world of Jura’s vin jaune and dry sherries, while remaining true to its Tokaj origin and Kabar variety.
